Discover Quercus Wilderness Area in Oskaloosa

Quercus is comprised of 111 acres of wilderness.  The soil that comprises the area is unique; sandy silt loam that was formed while the glaciers retreated from Iowa.  This soil is similar to the soil found in the Loess Hills in Western Iowa.

Quercus features a paved wheelchair accessible trail that leads from the parking area to an observation platform overlooking a wooded valley.  There are two primitive campsites adjacent to the hiking trail that winds through the area.  Each campsite has a fire ring and a picnic table.
