Bear Grove Forest Area

Discover Bear Grove Forest Area in State Center

This 23 acre oak hickory forest is open to the public for wildlife view and hunting.  This area received its name due to the fact that person living at the site in the late 1800's reportedly kept a bear as a pet.  The locals all came to know the area as "Bear Grove."

This wooded area has stands of bur oak, hickory, and other upland species.
Activities allowed include:

 

  • Hunting (State Hunting Rules and Regulations Apply)
  • Bird Watching and Wildlife Observation
  • Mushrooming
