Event Summary
Come enjoy a step back in time at the Cedar River Rendezvous and Outdoor Days and Sportsman Auction. Held in beautiful and scenic Mitchell County in Northern Iowa, we are going to be located at the Mitchell County Nature Center 1 1/2 miles west of Osage, Iowa 1879-3 Highway 9.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: FRIDAY SEPT. 23, 2011
Field Trip Day for Schools
You can choose either morning or afternoon or all day.
You can arrive anytime before 9am for the morning trip. Please arrive by noon for the afternoon. With both times please bring a sack lunch to enjoy at the rendezvous.
9-9:30- Introduction to conservation practices and early history for the area of Mitchell County. The Department of Natural Resources employees will be here to discuss the early practices of the early 1900’s.
9:30-10:00- Early Blacksmithing program and demonstrations set up with authentic antique equipment
10:00-10:30- Woodcarving demonstration and program of early woodcarving with hand tools.
10:30-11:00- Archeology of Mitchell County and early settlement of native Americans.
11:00- 11:30- Native Americans of the Fox and Sac Tribes will perform storytelling and dance
11:30- 12:00 Lunch
Afternoon groups (1/2 DAY)
12:00-12:30- Lunch
12:30-1:00- Native Americans of the Fox and Sac Tribes will perform storytelling and dance

2:30-3:00- Introduction to conservation practices and early history for the area of Mitchell County. The Department of Natural Resources employees will be here to discuss the early practices of the early 1900’s.
If staying for all day the students will visit the different displays and spend more time with the native Americans as well as dutch oven cooking demonstrations and the steam power museum.
After 3pm everyone can come. Bring your tents and stay!

Introduction to Early American History of Mitchell County MAIN ATTRACTIONS Flying Pig Fiddle and Banjo
Come and enjoy early American music and learn to play instruments such as the early fiddle and washboard and numerous others. They will be playing all day Saturday and evening with the audience welcome to join in! They will be in period clothing. The Sac and Fox Native American Tribe
They will perform on Friday night and all day Saturday as well as in the evening. Storytelling as well as their native dances along with their food will be featured.

Sportmans and Outdoor Auction
Auction will start at 10:00 AM
Come one, Come all to this consignment auction. This is your chance to donate to the Mitchell County Environmental Education Foundation with a portion of the proceeds of the sale of your item. Remember you don't have to donate your sale dollars just let us know when you drop off your item. Sale items can be dropped off as much as a month before the auction date and can consist of campers, boats, guns, fishing equipment, hunting and trapping supplies and anything else related to the outdoors and hunting and trapping sports.
Frank Fox Auctioneering will be conducting the auction and all bidders need to have a bid number to bid on items. The auction clerk will have the numbers for you that day. All items must be paid for before you leave. Items not paid for or taken by the end of the sale will become the property of the Mitchell County Environmental Education Foundation.
There will be lunch and refreshments available all day at the rendezvous.
