    • I/We, the undersigned, being 21 years of age or older and desiring to entertain ourselves and others at Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area, and intending to offer beer and/or wine as refreshment during the same, agree to ensure compliance with Section 123.47 of the Iowa Code respecting the possession of alcohol by minors and finally, agree to abide by all the rules and regulations promulgated respecting the use of Saulsbury Lodge and the Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area and all laws of this State.
    • I have read the Saulsbury Lodge Rental Policy and agree to abide by the Rules and Regulations set forth by the Muscatine County Conservation Board, to clean the Lodge before leaving, and to pay for any damages that occur during this rental period.

    Rental Contract Agreement

    The Saulsbury Lodge is designed for a group size of 75 people; tables and chairs are provided.
    Smoking is prohibited in the Lodge.
    No alcohol other than beer and wine is permitted. An additional agreement must be signed if alcohol will be on-site.
    A Special Events Permit is required if you expect more than 100 people; for weddings and receptions, for any events that charge admission, and for events that advertise it is open to the public.
    No staples, nails, or other damaging fasteners are to be attached to anything inside or outside the building. Only painters tape may be used to hang anything on painted walls. No glitter on confetti allowed inside or outside the building.
    Parking allowed in designated parking areas only, no roadside or off roadway parking.
    The Cleaning Checklist must be completed, signed, and left with the keys in the box provided in the building.
    Failure to follow the cleanup guidelines, loss of inventory, or damages to property will result in additional charges with a cleaning fee of $40/hour.

    Check-in time is no earlier than 6:00 am.
    Check-out time is no later than 10:30 pm.

    All other Muscatine County Conservation Board park rules and regulations apply.
    Violation of any park rules or regulations may result in fines, use privileges being rescinded, and forfeiture of rental fees.
    Muscatine County Conservation Board reserves the right of staff to enter the Saulsbury Lodge in an emergency, to inspect, and/or replenish supplies.

    Weddings and receptions require a three-day minimum rental.
    Youth groups and other recognized organizations may request an overnight stay.

    Cancellation Policy

    If you need to cancel or reschedule your reservation, you must contact us 15 days in advance of your rental date.

    Failure to do so will result in 100% forfeiture of your reservation, and you will not be able to reschedule.

    Youth Group Rules

    Youth Groups can reserve the Saulsbury Lodge at a discounted price. Please contact our office for a coupon code.

    Refund Policy

    NO REFUNDS - Please understand that at the time of booking your reservation, you immediately prohibit other people from reserving and utilizing this facility. If you contact us at least 15-days prior to your stay, a promotional code will be issued to use for a future online reservation.

    You will have one year (12 months) to reschedule using the promotional code issued.

    Saulsbury Lodge is situated in a scenic wooded setting near the Cedar River at the foot of the old Saulsbury Bridge. The Lodge is just a short distance from the Main Campground and offers access to trails and the rest of the Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area.

    Saulsbury Lodge is suitable for year-round large picnics, school field trips, family gatherings, youth events, and small wedding receptions.

    The Lodge is available for daytime rentals as well as overnight stays (only recognized organizations are allowed to rent for overnight stays (such as scouts, church, or youth groups). There are no beds or bedding provided. Our Naturalists provide environmental education programs at the Saulsbury Lodge as well.

    Fees

    The Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area Lodge is available for daily rentals.

    Youth Groups & Conservation Groups (Discounted price requires a coupon code by contacting our office!)

    • $80/day weekend use (Fri - Sun)
    • $60/day (Mon - Thurs)
    • Overnight stays (youth groups only $120) require prior approval by contacting our office 563-264-5922 or email us.

    Weddings/Receptions - Must reserve the Lodge for 3 consecutive days

    • $110 x 3 days = $330 plus pay the $40 Wedding Reception fee = total cost is $370

    All Other Users - Day Use Only

    • $110/day on the weekends (Fri-Sun)
    • $90/day on weekdays (Mon-Thurs)

    Early Set-up may be available for an additional $50. Contact the office for availability.

    Renters will be charged an additional fee if the building and surrounding area is damaged.
    A $40/hour cleaning fee will be charged if the building and surrounding area has not been cleaned properly.

    Hours of Operation & Seasons

    The Saulsbury Lodge is available for group rentals on a daily basis, year-round.
    Hours are 6:00 am - (no later than) 10:30 pm.

    Youth/Conservation Groups received a discounted rate. Please contact our office (563-264-5922) or email us for a promo code for your stay.

    Wedding/Receptions must book a 3-day rental for $370. (Online you must book 3 consecutive days at $110 each and pay the additional $40 wedding fee.)

    There is a possibility of paying an additional $50 for early set-up the day before your event or take down after. Please contact our office (563-264-5922) or email us to check on availability.

    Closures

    Saulsbury Lodge is typically open year round, however it may be closed when the Cedar River is flooding, or expected to flood in the area.

    Permits

    Beer and wine are allowed in the Saulsbury Lodge, IF a responsibility agreement has been signed:

    Special Use Permits are required to hold any event that meets one or more of the following criteria.
    The application must be filed with Muscatine County Conservation at least 45 days before the event.
    There is a non-refundable application fee of $25 and proof of liability insurance is required.

    • Any event where 100 or more people are expected to attend.

    • Any event that charges admission
    • Any event that advertises it is open to the public

    The Muscatine County Conservation Board is located in southeast Iowa, with the Mississippi River bordering the county on the east, and the Cedar River meandering through the center. The Muscatine CCB maintains 11 areas totaling 1,755 acres for public access.
