Flowers of the Prairie

Event Summary

Danuta Hutchins, of Storm Lake, was born in Warsaw Poland.  She came to the United States in 1962 and has been a professor at several universities throughout the Midwest.  She retired in 1995 and has gone on to devote herself full time to her artwork.  Hutchins will be helping participants celebrate Iowa Prairie Heritage Week with a look at Prairie Wildflowers.  She will discuss bloom times, where the plants grow, and what medicinal and food uses the plants had as they were used by pioneers and Native American Peoples.
