Since it was discovered that Monarch Butterflies migrate all the way from eastern and mid-continent North America to the mountains of south-central Mexico, people from around the world have followed them. In March 2010, Iowa residents Linda & Robert Scarth, were among a group which traveled with Bill Calvert, one of the scientists who first documented the monarch butterfly colony locations in Mexico in the 1970s. They also visited archeological, cultural and environmental sites on the way to the preserves - putting the experience into the context of life in Michoacan, Mexico.
