Foraging for Mushrooms

Event Summary

This program will cover proper Identification of your most basic edible mushrooms of Iowa.  We will also focus on what time of year to start looking for specific species of Mushrooms.  Proper meal preparation will be discussed and recipes will be shared. Once the informational aspect of the program is complete we will head out to the woods and try to find some edible mushrooms.  Please bring containers to collect mushrooms and dress for the weather. We will be on hilly terrain with areas of dense brush so please wear proper footwear and jean and long sleeve shirts. Pre-registration required; deadline is August 18. Fee: $5.
