Youth Camp Area 502 is one of two in this area. This grass, walk-in only campsite with shelter is nestled in among mature oak and hickory trees. This site provides a remote setting for large youth groups looking for an opportunity to camp without the impact of neighbors. 

 

Youth Group Definition: "All groups reserving this campsite must be composed of persons 17 years of age and under which is sponsored by and accompanied by adult representatives of a formal organization, including but not limited to Boy and Girl Scouts of America, churches, etc. Chaperoned Organized Youth Group DOES NOT include families of a formal organization. All groups reserving this site are subject to verification from park staff upon arrival." *Section 13-I of Polk County Conservation Rules and Regulations.

 

Sites may be reserved up to one-year in advance and must be made at least 5 days in advance of the date of reservation. For example, to make a Friday reservation, you must reserve the facility no later than Monday of that week. 

We have a limited refund policy; however, if you need to change your reservation you have one opportunity to reschedule. Details regarding the advance notification requirement, change and cancellation fees can be found in the Facility Contract accepted at time of booking.

Camping rate: $25/per night 

Capacity: maximum number of people allowed to camp at site is 30 people.

Reservations may be made up to ONE YEAR to date in advance.

Hours of Operation & Seasons

Summer Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. (daylight savings time)

Winter Hours: Sunrise to sunset  (standard time)

Upon entering park after hours, vehicle may be stopped by ranger requesting their campsite number and name of the party registered to the site.

Closures

April 1 (weather dependent)

·        Showerhouse closed. Reservations only allowed on youth group sites.

April 15 through October 15

·        Water and modern restroom/shower facilities are open. These facilities may open earlier and stay open later depending on weather conditions.

October 16 through April 14

·        Showerhouse closed.

December 1 through March 31

·       Gravel roads in camp areas are closed to vehicular traffic. Showerhouse closed.

We require that you post your camping receipt on site marker provided.
