Kalona Historical Tour Eco-Bus Trip Full! Add name to waiting list.

Event Summary

Step back in time as we visit the Amish and Mennonite community of Kalona. Our day will start at the Kalona Historical Village and Welcome Center with a cup of coffee and donuts from local bakery. After touring the village we will get a demonstration of making candy from Kalona Chocolates. Antique stores, quilt shops, arts & craft and women’s boutique shops are shops we will take time to explore in Kalona.  For lunch we will travel to a Conservative Mennonite home for a wholesome dinner served family style. After our filling lunch we will stop at Kalona Cheese Factory and the Stringtown Bulk Food store.  On the journey back to Des Moines we will stop at the Kinze Innovation Center.
Bus departs from Prairie Meadows parking lot.

Age limit 12 years and older

Registration opens on Friday, Feb. 14 at 8 a.m.

A waiting list will be started when the initial trip is full.  The waiting list gives and indication of interest and is utilized if initial trip participants cancel.

Trip Cancellation Policy:  If the trip reservation is cancelled before the registration deadline the individual will be issued a full refund.  If the trip reservation is cancelled after the registration deadline, the individual will be refunded payment only if the assigned space is re-reserved by another person.  The refund shall be the amount of the trip less a $10 cancellation fee.  If assigned space is not re-reserved, no refund will be given. The trip reservation fee may also be transferred to another trip prior to  the registration deadline providing the trip is not full.
