Event Summary
Explore the
rolling hills, picturesque community, and scenic views of Jones County, the boyhood home of Grant Wood. Tour the historic Stone City, enjoy lunch along the scenic Wapsipinicon
River. We will drive into the underground quarry of one of Iowa's greatest natural resource, Anamosa
Limestone.
Learn the
history of Stone City and its connection to local artist Grant Wood. After lunch we will visit "The White
Palace of the West" or the Anamosa State Penitentiary Museum and hear
unique stories of this institution. We
will also visit Wapsipinicon State Park and
the famous Hale Bridge and Horse Thief Cave. Our day will end with a tour of the Grant
Wood Gallery and the school he attended in Jones County.
Fee: $70/person; includes motorcoach transportation
lunch and tour fees. Departing
from Prairie Meadows Parking Lot 1, Altoona, IA.. Registration deadline is September 3.
Trip
Cancellation Policy:
If the trip reservation is cancelled before the registration
deadline the individual will be issued a full refund. If the trip reservation is cancelled after the registration deadline, the
individual will be refunded payment
only if the
assigned space is re-reserved by another person. The refund shall be the
amount of the trip less a
$10 cancellation fee. If assigned space
is not re-reserved, no refund will be given.
The trip reservation fee may also be transferred
to another trip prior to
the registration deadline providing the trip is not full.
