Discover Your Park - Native Americans

JUL 10 2014 2:00 PM

Yellow Banks Park , Polk County

Event Summary

Join a naturalist in one of our parks this summer for an afternoon of fun. Each program will start with a discussion followed by an activity. All ages are welcome.

Long before we ever called this land Iowa, it was a home for early people. For thousands of years, Native Americans depended upon Yellow Banks for its rich resources. Join a naturalist as they discuss authentic  artifacts, replica tools, and lead you on a hike to the last remaining burial mound  in the park. Before you know it, you will feel like you’re walking in the footsteps of Iowa’s earliest natives.
