Event Summary
Join presenter Laura Friesell for a unique, hands-on program and get some experience navigating the great outdoors. Join us for this new program at Hitchcock Nature Center.on Friday, August 23rd at 5:30 p.m.This program is a field session designed to give students real-time, hands-on practice navigating terrain with a compass & topographical map.
Students will get a brief lesson on use & then head outdoors to put their skills to use. Attending our "Map & Compass Foundations" program on Tuesday, August 20th is recommended but not necessary. Click Here for More Information on That Program.
Cost for this program is $15.00 per student and includes all program materials, & admission to the park. Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, August 21st as space is limited. Please Note: This program requires a minimum number of registered participants to proceed. If we do not reach our required minimum this program will be cancelled & refunds issued to registered participants.
CANCELLATION POLICY: Guests may cancel their reservation for a full refund up to 1 week (7 days) prior to the date of the first programming session by calling 712-545-3283 & speaking with staff directly. Cancellations made less than 1 week (7 days) in advance will not be refunded. Program fees for programs cancelled by PCC for weather & other reasons will be refunded to all registered participants.
This program is being presented as part of our adult educational programming, attendees must be age 14 & over.
Participants should note this program will be held at Hitchcock Nature Center. Saturday's programming session will include pedestrian travel over difficult terrain which may, at times be physically challenging. This program will be held outdoors, rain or shine. Water bottles, bug spray, & sunblock are all recommended, please dress for the weather & wear appropriate footwear.
