Hitch Hike
MAY 15 2012 7:00 PM
Event Summary
Join us for the first hike of the series as we hike along a Loess Hills ridge top through scenic prairie to reach our destination- the McIntosh Pioneer Cemetery, founded in 1874. This trail is only accessible with a PCCB staff member and is not considered open to the public. See the spring wildflowers of the prairie including blue-eyed grass, puccoons and locoweed and learn about our plans to conduct a prescribed burn on the cemetery later this summer. We invite the public to attend all of the hikes in the series. They are designed to introduce visitors to Hitchcock Nature Center as well as the Loess Hills. The series will start with a more moderate trail, and we will work our way towards a healthy, invigorating 2.5 mile hike to the most western edge of the preserve at the series' end. Please join us in the fun! Cost: $2.00 per person and includes on-trail refreshments.
