Discover Flemiing Woods State Preserve in Montezuma

Fleming Woods State Preserve is a 38-acre  oak/hickory upland  timber.  A preserve is a natural area left undisturbed by man for teaching and research, and will be a legacy of flora and fauna left for only the forces of nature to change.  Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Fleming of Montezuma donated this woodland to the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation in 1982, which in turn donated the land to the Poweshiek County Conservation Board. It was dedicated as a state preserve in 1983.
