The Pond Side shelter is a small shelter with 4 picnic tables, a small charcoal grill, and a fire ring.
It is a great place to hold a birthday party, small family reunion, small business picnic, wedding, or other outdoor event.
There is currently no electricity.

AGREEMENT ACCEPTED AT TIME OF BOOKING contains renter responsibilities, cancellation and refund restrictions, and park conduct information. Renter will be responsible for damages beyond normal wear. Renter must be at least 21 years of age and present at the facility for entire reservation period.
A damage deposit of $150.00 is due two weeks prior to your reservation date(s). If you are making a reservation less than two weeks from now, please send your deposit immediately. The deposit MUST be cash or check. The deposit must be dropped off or mailed into the main office at 1339 HWY 63 Bloomfield, IA 52537. The deposit will be returned if you cancel the reservation or if the shelter and grounds are vacated in good, clean condition and equipment/furnishings not lost or damaged. All or part of the deposit may be retained against cleanup costs, damage, or loss incurred. If the deposit amount does not cover such costs, the renter is held responsible for additional payment.
I agree to clean up all decorations, litter, and debris in the building, on the grounds and parking lot which may be deposited during our stay and agree to return all tables, chairs, and equipment to their original locations. I agree to be responsible for any damages done to property during our stay by ourselves or our guests, agree to ensure compliance of Sec. 123.47 of the Iowa Code respecting possession of alcohol by minors and agree to abide by all rules and regulations of the Conservation Board and the State of Iowa. I agree to vacate the premises by 10:30 p.m. I understand I may be charged for damages resulting from my parties actions. I agree to pay additional charges imposed by the Board to wholly or partially satisfy any damage to its property cause by members of said group while using the facilities. Failure to clean up the facility and surrounding area may also result in additional charges.All Wapello County Conservation rules and regulations apply.
Damage Deposit:
Shelter reservations require a $150 damage deposit check written to Wapello County Conservation Board two weeks prior to your reservation. If failed to do so, you may become ineligible to utilize this facility. Damage deposit check will be shredded after your event if there are no issues with damage, clean up, or late departure and other rules and regulations are followed. You will be notified within 72 hours if there are any issues. The damage deposit check can be dropped off or mailed into the Pioneer Ridge Nature Center at 1339 HWY 63 Bloomfield, IA 52537.
Alcohol:Alcohol is permitted however, a keg permit is required for containers over one (1) quart in size. Keg permits must be filled out a minimum of 14 days prior to the scheduled event. There is a $100.00 deposit fee for the keg permit and also a $50.00 fee for each keg (or container larger than 1 quart) over two.Facility Rules: • All events and music must end no later than 10:30 PM.• Smoking is prohibited inside the facility • Park in designated parking areas only • Keep facility and grounds clean and in an orderly manner • Wapello County Conservation is not responsible for lost or stolen items • All visitors must depart the area by 10:30 PM. • Do not exceed maximum occupancy• Removal or defacing of county owned property may result in legal action • Wapello County Conservation has the right to refuse service to anyone not adhering to park rules • Renters need to remove all refuse and place in proper receptacles.• Do not clean fish or game inside the facility.• Use provided hooks for hanging decorations.• No staples or nails allowed.• All tape must be removed.Special Requests:Certain activities or items require that you request and obtain special permission from the Board in advance to your events. This includes but not limited to the following: horse activities, set-up of special tents, inflatable play equipment, etc. A special use permit will be required and will need to be approved by the Board at least 30 days prior to the reservation date.All changes must be made by calling the Conservation Office at 641-682-3091.
Please consider this policy prior to purchasing your facility reservation. Should you choose to cancel a reservation, you will forfeit 100% of all reservation fees paid.
Cancellations cannot be done online and must be made by calling or emailing the WCCB office at: 641-682-3091.
If a facility reservation is cancelled by WCCB due to a natural disaster or if the facility is unusable, credit will be issued to the person that made the original reservation.
