Come Camping on the Wild Side!

Event Summary

Come Camping on the Wild Side!

Winneshiek County Conservation Board will be sponsoring a family camping weekend at the Lake Meyer Campground, June 4-6.  The staff at Lake Meyer invites you to bring your family out to enjoy a weekend of family-friendly, outdoor activities. Events are scheduled for the weekend, but also feel free to enjoy the lake, trails, nature center, and park facilities on your own.  No reservations will be taken at the campground – campsites are on a first come, first served basis (regular camping fees apply).  All equipment and supplies for activities will be provided free of charge.  Events will include a night hike, GPS scavenger hunt, fishing, campfire with S’mores, and more! WCCB would also like to point out that this is free fishing weekend sponsored by the Iowa DNR.  This means that during these 3 days, residents of Iowa are not required to possess a valid fishing license while fishing. All other fishing laws are in effect.  If you are inexperienced in fishing, this is a perfect opportunity to have WCCB staff assist you and your family with some of the basics of fishing during this weekend. Marissa Nordschow, WCCB Education Coordinator, remarks, “This is going to be a great weekend.  We have lots of fun activities planned for kids and their families.  We’d love to pack the campground with families, so come on out to Lake Meyer for the weekend!”  If you have questions about the event, contact WCCB staff at 563-534-7145.
