Flight of the Nutcrackers

Event Summary

1:30 – 3:00 p.m. Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center. What makes a parrot a parrot? How does a parrot crack nuts? Where do feathers come from? Through this public interpretive program we will answer those questions and learn about the realities of parrots in our lives and in their wild landscapes. Over the course of an hour we will introduce four different parrot species and deliver a conservation message using their natural behaviors. Audience members will have the opportunity to socialize and touch the parrots if they wish. Niki Faller, the presenter, has been living with parrots for three years and is founder of Zeke’s Tree, a fair trade boutique, to support landscapes around the globe. She is a 2013 graduate of Dr. Susan Friedman’s Professional Living and Learning with Animals course.
