Summary Description
Temporary position which performs manual work assisting with the maintenance and enhancement of conservation properties, such as natural areas, parks, campgrounds, and trails, and related work as assigned. Extended employment opportunities may be available. Work is performed under the moderate supervision of the Operations Supervisor or Natural Resource Specialist.
This position will offer opportunities in natural resource work, equipment use and park facility and grounds maintenance. Accommodations may be made for school schedules. This position is based at Hickory Grove Park in Colo.
Hours will average 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday and may include some weekends and holidays.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. - Performs work such as prairie and forest restoration, invasive species removal, chainsawing, herbicide application, mowing, string trimming, general carpentry, trail maintenance, and minor equipment maintenance.
- Reports and assists in repairing safety hazards.
- Offers assistance and information to the public.
- Assists staff with area monitoring.
- Performs related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a current, valid driver's license and be able to obtain a category 2 or 6 pesticide applicator's certification within the first month of employment.
