Description

This is a full-time position offering a starting wage of $24.29 per hour with two .50 cent increases during the first year.

Under the general direction of the Executive Director, the Park Ranger manages and maintains all Jackson County Conservation Board management areas. The Park Ranger is responsible for developing and coordination work projects for themselves and seasonal employees, maintaining all park equipment and facilities, and enforcing all park rules and regulations in management areas.  

This position requires the operation of all types of equipment including trucks, tractors, mowing equipment, chainsaw, weed eater, power tools, wood splitter, watercraft, and all types of hand tools.  

Associate’s Degree from an accredited 2-year college with major course work related to the natural resource field plus a minimum of 2-years’ experience in an outdoor recreation or related field required.   

Interested applicants must possess Certified Peace Officer certification through the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy, a valid Iowa Class A Commercial Driver’s License, Iowa Pesticide Applicators License, CPR & First Responder certification, or have the ability to obtain each within the first year of employment. 

Must possess a valid Iowa driver's license and be insurable under county policy upon hire.
