Description
Full-time conservation technician will be under the supervision of the director. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Maintaining parks and recreational areas by performing a variety of physical tasks including cleaning and repairing park facilities, spraying pesticides, mowing parks, conducting prescribed burning, planting food plots, maintaining trails, landscaping, and construction improvements
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and in writing, with public officials, business people, and the public
- Supervising part-time employees
- Operation of equipment including motor vehicles, tractors, drills, mowers, and power tools
- Conducts work in a safe manner
- Serves as the County Sanitarian
Requirements
- Ability to obtain a commercial pesticide applicators license within three months of hire
- Must work weekends, holidays, and evenings as requested
- Regularly lifting objects up to fifty pounds/exposure to a variety of weather conditions
Qualifications
• Bachelors or Associates degree in a science related field or significant background or work experience in conservation and natural resource activities • A valid driver’s license required
