Job Summary
ICCB's seasonal Summer Ranger/Park maintenance is under immediate supervision of the permanent staff and responsible to the ICCB Director. This position performs tasks required in the maintenance of Ida County parks, habitats, and other properties. Starting date range is May 16th, or until the position is filled. The applicant must be capable of regular attendance at Moorehead Park in Ida Grove, IA for approximately 22 weeks. Our workday runs from 7:00am-3:30pm in the summer. This is a 20 hour per week position with a starting pay of $12.00/hr. Holidays and weekends are shared with other staff, with flexible schedules.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Must be capable of regular attendance at Moorehead Park, Ida Grove, Iowa, in order to perform assigned tasks.
• Assists in the performance of general maintenance work such as cleaning facilities, removing trash/litter, maintaining trails, grounds keeping, cutting/stacking wood, and other park maintenance.
• Performs janitorial duties in the shop, storage facilities, restrooms, and office.
• Works alternating weekends and splits holiday weekends with other staff.
• Operates tractors, trucks, trailers when necessary to carry out maintenance and development activities and assists staff with larger projects.
• Communicates with the general public to explain park policies and operations when needed; acts as a liaison to ICCB director.
• Other duties may be assigned.
Minimum Required Qualifications
• 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED, desirable.
• Previous work experience relating to essential duties and responsibilities, preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Requires excellent verbal skills with a professional demeanor.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain good public relations.
• Some knowledge in the operation of manual tools and equipment.

• Position requires frequent exposure to outdoor elements which may include heat, humidity, cold, rain, snow, live or dead animals, animal waste, odors, loud noises, filthy environments and insects.
• Must be able to walk on uneven or heavily wooded ground for an extended period of time.
• Position requires frequent use of hands or fingers to handle or feel; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; ability to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance.
• Lift up to 40lbs, occasionally.

Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Ability to perform physical demands, work with the public, and be a good communicator. Experience in a trade school or pursuing a conservation related field will be preferred.
