Description
Duties and responsibilities
The following duties are normal for this position and should not be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
• Administer Conservation Board activities, including budgets, grants, agendas, financial record keeping, planning, purchases, equipment, and property.
• Maintain 6 parks and wildlife areas.
• Perform diverse tasks associated with the planning, development, and maintenance of the county's parks, trails, wildlife areas, and equipment.
• Responsible for recreational programs and the enhancement of wildlife habitat for public lands.
• Present educational programs to various groups, both students and adults, on wildlife and Conservation.
• Search for grants and grant ·writing.
• Maintain County Conservation Office.
• Plan, supervise, and coordinate work with all staff in maintenance and construction.
• Inform the Board of all county, city, state, and federal policies and statutes, ensure compliance, represent the Conservation Board, and act as a liaison between Board members and various agencies.
• Follow Iowa Code, Chapter 350, dealing with County Conservation Boards. Some 'Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required.
Qualifications
Must be Iowa Law Enforcement Certified (ILEA) or pass-precertification testing to become ILEA certified prior to employment with Minimum requirements established by the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy. Bachelor of Sciences degree in a Natural Resources
