Description
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Assists in maintenance and management of parks, wildlife
areas, and any other assigned areas.
Must be able to work with minimal direct supervision, assist in
prescribed fire, work in all-weather conditions, operate heavy equipment,
identify invasive species, develop management strategies, and work closely
with seasonal and full-time employees.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills:
The Park Technician will need to be able to apply knowledge
and common sense to achieve work objectives.
Abilities include operating heavy equipment, power tools, ATV’s, fire
equipment, radios, sprayers, and chainsaws.
This position will need to complete projects in a timely manner
without compromising quality of work.
Must be able to train & supervise seasonal staff, communicate clearly
with public and staff, lift 50 pounds routinely, work in extreme weather
environments, and prioritize workloads.
This position will require an Iowa driver’s license, Iowa
Pesticide Applicator license category 2, 5, and 6, CRP, and Wildland Fire Courses
S 130 and S 190.
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree or bachelor’s degree in wildlife biology, ecology, forestry, agriculture or closely related field. 2 years of closely related fieldwork is preferred.
