Smith Wildlife Area
Other Activities at Smith Wildlife Area
In the spring, KCCB conducts its Maple Syrup Making Program. School groups and the general public come in large numbers to see how maple syrup is made. Most people do not leave without sampling a bit of the finished product. See the
Sugar Shack Brochure for more information.
Locations
Smith Wildlife Area is located 3 miles south of Algona on the east side of Highway 169. Turn onto the driveway and follow it back to the parking lot. If it is syrup season the gate will be open and you can continue through the gate to another parking area.
Hours
Smith Wildlife Area is open year-round, but maple syrup season only happens in the early spring when temperatures get above freezing during the day.
