Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area
Trails & Hiking at Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area
There are several miles of trails throughout Chinkapin Bluffs Recreation Area. The 2-mile Hoover Nature Trail lies at the base of the bluff, separating the wetland unit from the rest of the park. It connects in two places to the Chinkapin trails that traverse up the side of the steep bluff. Another series of trails cover the land on top of the bluff. A person could easily do a 4-mile hike.
Locations
For Hoover Nature Trail Access it is easiest to get to from the Louisa County Fairgrounds off HWY 92.
For all other Chinkapin Trails - park at one of the accesses along R Avenue and explore.
Features
Chinkapin offers a diversity of trails to the extremely flat and level Hoover Nature Trail (2-miles, one way so 4-miles if you go all the way out and back) to VERY steep trails that take hikers up the side of the bluff. Trails on top of the bluff are mostly mowed grass trails and are also relatively flat.
