Big Sioux Recreation Area
Other Activities at Big Sioux Recreation Area
There is much to do at the Big Sioux Recreation Area in addition to the camping, fishing, swimming and hunting. During spring migration season this area provides a prime spot to watch many eagles travel through the site. During peak migration there is anywhere from 10-100 eagles that can be seen in a given drive through the park. There are many other migratory birds that pass through the area providing ample birding opportunities for all.
In addition to bird watching there is also playground equipment that is available to all park users located in the Eagle View Campground. There is plenty of open space for those wishing to play outdoor games while camping and enjoy the surroundings. There is an outdoor archery area available to those wishing to brush up on their skills prior to hunting season starting or just looking for a different place to practice. Targets are taken down during the winter months. Must provide your own bow and arrows.
