2nd Sunday Speaker Series: Scientific Artwork's History and How It Helps You to Learn

Hartman Reserve Nature Center, Black Hawk County

Sunday, August 11, 2024

Brianna Hull, North East Iowa Field Coordinator at Trees Forever, spent two years working with the Tallgrass Prairie Center in Cedar Falls, IA. While there she learned how to identify prairie species and harvest native seed, and she visited countless remnant prairies. She learned to identify species through existing artwork and her own drawings. For a Green Iowa AmeriCorps project, she created a free prairie coloring book that is still available. Bri will discuss the history of scientific artwork, how Iowa’s own Ada Hayden was a huge figure in identifying native prairie species through her observational drawings, and how drawing native species may actually help you learn to identify native plants!

No cost for this presentation and registration isn't necessary.
