Cedar Bend Park
Cedar Bend Park is the largest park in Bremer County, consisting of 180 acres. The majority of the park (130 acres) was purchased in 1965 from Carl and Gertrude Muench. That same year, Harold and Dorothy Mueller sold the board an adjacent 34 acre tract. The current 180 acre park was completed in 1967 with the purchase of 16 acres from Merlyn and Edna Anhault.
The park offers area citizens and visitors a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Over 4 miles of trails wind through forests, fields, and along the river's edge. Hikers, cross country skiers, and nature lovers can enjoy the beauty and variety of Iowa throughout the year.
Three picnic and playground areas provide day-use recreation. There are also three sand volleyball courts and horseshoe pits at the park. Two shelters with electricity are also available on a first come - first serve basis unless reserved. A recycling shed is also available to reduce items going to the landfill.
The campground has over 60 sites with electrical outlets as well as a dump station. Flush toilets and shower facilities are located in the campground, while pit latrines are located in the rest of the park. Camping is on a first come - first serve basis. The park was connected to rural water in 2006 for drinking water.
The park gate is open from May 1st to October 31st. The park gate is closed to vehicle traffic after October 31st, however, access to the park is available by walking.
