The newest addition to Black Hawk County Conservation, Wilson's Woods is approx. 33 acres of floodplain forest typically found along the Wapsipinicon River.  The site also contains several acres of upland forest along with a small grassy opening.  Unique features include a large grove of old pine trees at the entrance, a pond, and small stream entering the property.  There is over 2,000 ft. of shoreline access to the Wapsi River for the public to enjoy!

This stretch of the Wapsi River is part of an important Bird Conservation Area (BCA) recognized by the DNR and also a designated Water Trail for boaters.

Location

Wilson's Woods is located east of the town of Dunkerton along the Black Hawk/Buchanan County boundary.  From Dunkerton, go east on Dunkerton Rd. crossing the Wapsi River.  Go south on Teem Rd. and follow until a large planting of old pine trees are visible next to the road.  A small parking area along with gate is located at the site entrance.
