Chickasaw Park
This area is near the townsite of Old Chickasaw. 16 acres of this area were acquired in 1957 by a lease from the Iowa Conservation Commission. In 1974, another 16 acres were purchased from Martin Marietta, former owner of the quarry area. Remains of a dam and waterway once used to power a feed mill can be seen here on the west side of the river.
Location
Located 2.5 miles west of Ionia on Highway B57 at 2228 Chickasaw Park Drive. Section 21, T95N, R14W. This park lies on both sides of the Little Cedar River.
Features
Access to the Little Cedar River for fishermen and canoers. Fishing is allowed in the abandoned quarry area. Picnicking, primitive camping, shelters, and pit toilets are provided. In 2017, a canoe launch site was added on the west side of the river by Josh Finnegan, Ionia for his Eagle Scout project.
Swimming is not condoned or promoted at the Chickasaw Park quarry site - you are doing so at your own risk. Rock climbing, cliff jumping and diving are not allowed. An ordinance has been passed making it a simple misdemeanor to do so.
The west side of Chickasaw Park is the location of the Ionia Fire Department's Annual Fish Fry, attracting 1000-1500 people each year.

Open year round - 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. for noncampers. Campers and fisherman are allowed 24 hours/day
