Littlefield Recreation Area is Audubon County Conservation Board's (ACCB) largest and most popular park.  It began in 1965 with 40 acres of timber and 20 acres that were developed into a recreational area.  In 1975 and 1976 the park's sized increase by 385 acres due to the Troublesome Creek Watershed Project.  Two dams were built along Troublesome Creek forming the lake that is used for recreational purposes and flood control.

Littlefield features a campground with 100 modern sites.  All of these sites have access to electricity and water.  Fifteen of the sites have full sewer hookups. The Old Campground is located at the entrance of the park.  This one is furthest from the lake, but is the shadiest.  Pit toilets are located here, but flush toilets and a shower are a very short walk by crossing the path over the lake outlet.  It is also closest to the Old Shelter House.  Campground A is located closest to the shower house, beach, and Beach Shelter House.  Flush toilets and the full sewer hook-ups are located in this part of the park.  Campgrounds B and C are connected together.  These two sections of the park contain the sites closest to the lake.  Both have pit toilets.  ACCB does not reserve campsites.  All campsites are available on a first come, first serve basis.

The 70 acre lake is a popular fishing spot.  It contains channel catfish, crappies, bluegill, largemouth bass, and carp.  The lake is also popular for swimming with its 400 foot long beach.

Three reservable shelter houses are available at Littlefield.  The Old Shelter House is located near the entrance of the park.  It has a large open area, a playground, and flush toilets nearby.  The Beach Shelter House is located near the beach and main showerhouse.  It features a fireplace and can be enclosed.  The East Shelter House is located near Campground C.  It is close to the lake and pit toilets are nearby.  To reserve a shelter house contact ACCB at 712-268-2762.
