Prairie Pond

Priaire Pond Landscape
Prairie Pond Boy with Fish

Acquired in 1988 from the Iowa Department of Transportation, this 18-acre borrow pit was created when work was underway on U.S 20.  This site is used by a variety of wildlife that is attracted to the pond for food, water, and protection. Additional reclamation work continues on the site, including the establishment of native grasses that will benefit waterfowl, songbirds, small mammals, deer, and upland game species.
