Event Summary

 Join us for a fun and educational outdoor adventure! Get ready to ride and paddle at Big Woods Lake – North Entrance with our Pedals and Paddles program! This exciting event will teach participants about bike and water safety while giving them hands-on experience in both activities.

🚴 Pedal Portion 🚲

Enjoy a scenic bike ride around Big Woods Lake! Participants are encouraged to bring their own bike and helmet for the best fit. If you don’t have one, no worries – bikes and helmets will be available. In partnership with Safe Routes to School & INRCOG.

✅ Helmets are required while biking.

✅ Closed-toe shoes are required for safety.

 🌊 Paddle Portion 🛶

Take to the water with Black Hawk County Conservation! Participants will have the chance to kayak on Big Woods Lake, with kayaks and lifejackets provided. This is a great opportunity to learn, explore, and have fun in nature! 🌿

Don't miss out! Come prepared for adventure and safety on both land and water. See you there!

Ages: 10-14

Cost: $20 dollars. This covers all program costs, and no walk ins will be accepted.

Program Policies: All registrations must be done online, and no walk-ins will be accepted. If you need assistance in registering for programs online, please call the nature center 319-277-2187, and we will help you. Prior to the program, registration materials and waiver must be completed for each participant and turned into the nature center. These materials can be emailed to gcallaway@blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov or sent to 657 Reserve Drive Cedar Falls, Iowa 50613.Children can be dropped off starting 10 minutes prior to the start of the program and must be picked up with 15 minutes after the end of the program. If a child needs to be dropped off/picked up earlier/later, please contact Megan at mhamm@blackhawkcounty.iowa.gov.

Refund Policy: Refunds will only be given in the case of a documented medical emergency or funeral for programs more than $10. If program cost is under $10, a program voucher will be offered for a future program. If a program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen reasons, then a similar program will be offered in its place.
