    • I understand that one one camping unit is allowed per site with an additional tent allowed for minor children only.
    • I understand that the Director or designated Board representatives are given authority to refuse camping privileges and to rescind any and all camping permits for cause, including failure to follow these rules, which is within the power of the Board to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the public.

    Rental Contract Agreement

    Camping Rules are as follows: 

    1. Only campers 18 years of age or older are permitted to reserve and occupy a site, said site shall have occupancy of 6 people or less. Failure to register is a misdemeanor. (461A.5D Code of Iowa)  

    2. Only licensed motor vehicles, motorcycles, mopeds, and Off-Highway Vehicles registered with the Iowa DNR shall be permitted to operate in county parks; said vehicles shall operate only on designated roadways.    

    3. Only one vehicle for travel will be allowed at designated campsites. Visitors and extra vehicles must be parked in designated areas away from campsite. Self propelled campers may have one extra vehicle per site for transportation purposes.  

    4. Handicapped campers or visitors shall be allowed to park a second vehicle at a campsite if the vehicle displays a handicapped sticker in the proper place.  

    5. Campers shall erect camping equipment and camp at designated campsites only.  

    6. Camping equipment shall be considered a camping unit when it consists of any of the following pieces or combination of pieces of equipment, with one camping unit allowed per campsite (with an additional tent allowed for minor children):   

    A.    Station wagon or van

    B. Pick-up truck plus topper

    C. Any motor vehicle and tent 

    D. Any portable shelter or sleeping gear associated with camping

    E. Any vehicle and trailer

    F. Motor home

    G. Converted bus    

    7. Registered campers shall maintain campsites in a reasonable safe, serviceable, clean, and presentable condition. Non-camping equipment shall not be stored around campsite.  

    8. No camping unit shall be permitted to camp for a period in excess of 14 days in an area designated as limited for a period not to exceed 14 days. After 14 days a camping unit shall be required to leave the limited area for a minimum of 14 days.  

    9. Camping units three days in arrears on camping fees shall be considered abandoned.  

    10. All campers must maintain quiet hours in the campgrounds during the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Visitors must leave area by 10:30 p.m. or be subject to a fine as unauthorized visitors after park closing hours.  

    11. Loud and raucous noise of any kind is prohibited, including noise from radios, televisions, musical instruments, or similar noise producing devices operated in such manner or at any time as to disturb other campers. The Director or designated Board representatives may approach the offender and request the disturbance cease.  

    12. Check out time for all campers at fee camping areas shall be 4:00 p.m. Campers remaining in the campgrounds past the check out time will be required to pay an additional day of camping fee as set forth in the fee schedule.    

    13. Food shall be stored in a way that does not attract animals.  

    14. Garbage shall be placed in trash receptacles provided.  

    15. Garbage shall not be burned in fire rings or charcoal grills.

    16. All coals must be placed in charcoal grills or fire rings provided by county  

    17. Each camping unit shall be restricted to one picnic table.  

    18. Campground shower houses shall be restricted to registered guests and their visitors.  

    19. Electric hand dryers permanently installed shall not be used for hair drying  

    20. Animals are prohibited in shower houses.  

    21. Children are prohibited from playing in shower houses.  

    22. It shall be prohibited to take hot water from shower houses.  

    23. Fish cleaning shall be prohibited in shower houses.  

    24. The use of metal detectors is not allowed.  

    25. Privately owned animals shall be leashed and not tied to park vegetation. Every such animal shall be kept on a leash not to exceed six (6) feet. All animal waste material shall be collected and bagged for pick-up (461A.45 Code of Iowa).    

    26. No person shall use park vegetation for the purpose of erecting a clothesline, hammock, or any other weight bearing structure  

    27. The use of swimming and wading pools are prohibited.  

    28. Boone County Conservation Board staff members, when on duty, may enter all campsites and reservable buildings at any time to investigate and enforce park rules, state laws, and federal laws.  

    29. Director or designated Board representatives are given authority to refuse camping privileges and to rescind any and all camping permits for cause, including failure to follow these rules, which is within the power of the Board to protect the health, welfare, and safety of the public (461A.51 Code of Iowa).

    Cancellation Policy

    No refunds are available for cancellations or changes to the reservation.

    Moving between sites is not allowed unless approved by the park ranger.

    This is a reservable electric and water site. If the site has not been reserved, it is also available as first come/first serve by scanning the QR Code on-site, or by vising www.mycountyparks.com, to check availability and make a payment.

    Electric hookup is on a shared power pedestal.

    Water hookup is on a shared hydrant that sits between campsites. Other water hydrants available to fill up at are across from the Shelter House and by the open-air shelter.

    Occupancy limit of 14 nights. After 14 days a camping unit shall be required to leave the park for a minimum of 14 days.

    Check In and Check Out is 4:00 p.m.

    Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 04:00 PM and check-out is before 04:00 PM.

    • Gravel camping slip is approximately 50' x 12' with a small grass area adjacent.
    • Bathhouse is the designated tornado shelter.
    • Playground, sand volleyball court, and open air shelter are nearby.
    • Hiking trails throughout the park and hunting/fishing available in the adjacent Saylorville Wildlife Area.

    Bathhouse, hydrants, and dump station may be closed due to freezing temperatures even though the campground may remain open.

    Hours of Operation & Seasons

    Swede Point Park campsites are available for rent April 15- October 15. Check in and check out is 4:00 p.m. Visitors not staying overnight must leave by 10:30 p.m. Quiet hours are 11:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.

    Bathhouse, water hydrants, and dump station are open only during camping season. A portable toilet is available during the non-camping season.

    October 16- April 14, Swede Point is open to visitors from 6am-10:30pm.

    In the late and early camping season, facilities may be unavailable due to freezing temperatures. No refunds will be issued due to these conditions.
