Trail Preview at Cedar Rock - Breath of Fresh Air Activity

Event Summary

Cedar Rock is pleased to welcome participants of the Breath of Fresh Air to a special preview of the site's new grass back trail and scenic overlooks. The new trail winds through various habitats of the park including; prairie, woodland, wetland and lowlands.  The prairie grasses and wooded areas are a colorful backdrop as guests meander through the network of hiking trails in Cedar Rock's Wildlife Management Area.  At the conclusion of their hike guests are welcome to walk or take the tractor pulled trolley to the house grounds to see the newly cleared scenic overlook and the myriad of fall colors along the limestone bluff.  There are trail length options.  Tours of the historic house will not be available as the house is winterized for the season. There are bathroom facilities at this park. Dress for the weather and you may want a water bottle. Social distancing encouraged, but bring a face mask for times that may not be possible.

Option 1: Meet at the Park Visitor Center at 10am and hike the new trail from the visitor center to the wooded loop and back. This is roughly a 3/4 mile hike of mostly level terrain with a time commitment of about 15-20 minutes.

Option 2: Meet at the Park Visitor Center at 10am and hike the new trail from the visitor center to the creek trailhead. This circuit could be a 2 - 2 1/2 mile hike of mostly level terrain with a time commitment of about 1 hour.
