Iron Bridge Access Dedication - Fall Colors River Float

Event Summary

Learn about one of Iowa's premier Water Trail Gateways during a public dedication of the newly improved Iron Bridge Access.  The story behind this project has a broad cast of characters who came together to provide a great outdoor recreation venue on the Wapsipinicon River.
The public dedication will begin with speakers briefly describing their partnership roles and how they saw value in the project.  There also will be information about a future project to restore the historic Taylor's Ford Bridge (adjacent to the access).  Following the dedication, people will be able to walk the new paved trails to check out the access and surrounding area.  At approximately 9:40 a.m. the group will get ready to get out onto the Wapsipinicon River.
The Wapsipinicon River Corridor downstream of the Iron Bridge is among the most scenic sections of river in the region, with beautiful forested bluffs dominated by ridge top oaks and lowland maples.  Kayaks, canoes, and gear can be reserved by registering for the float online.  Due to Covid-19, people will need to arrange their own transportation between the Iron Bridge put-in and the Quasqueton takeout.  There is a $5/person fee for the float.  Participants are encouraged to social distance.  If you have a strong preference for a canoe or a kayak please call the nature center to let staff know at 319-636-2617.
