Calhoun

Named after our second conservation director Keith Roos, Roos Pond spans 16.6 acres and features an eight-acre fishing pond suitable for all ages. Initially man-made to aid in constructing an overpass over the nearby train tracks, this area is now under Calhoun County's ownership and has been transformed into a public recreation spot. The pond boasts various fish species like largemouth bass, yellow bass, and bluegill. Calhoun County Conservation has added fish structure to the pond floor and a spawning area to enhance the pond's habitat, promoting self-sustaining fish populations without the need for stocking. Visitors can enjoy two picnic shelters, a pond-side trail, and a vault toilet at this location.
