Discover Morris Wildlife Area in Dundee

The Morris Wildlife Area is located 3 miles northwest of Dundee in Section 17 of Richland Township (T90N-R6W), Delaware County, Iowa.

In 1988 the current owner, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Dundee IA, entered into a lease agreement with Delaware County Conservation Board to manage this 80-acre property. The intent was to maintain this property as an undeveloped natural area that is available to the public for recreational use such as hiking, hunting and wildlife habitat.

This area is primarily upland habitat with the South Fork of the Maquoketa River skirting the northern boundary of the property. Wildlife is abundant in this area.

Over the years Delaware County Conservation has enhanced the open areas by planting over 2,500 trees and shrubs, installed 9 acres of switchgrass, erected over a dozen bluebird houses and planted 4 acres of wildlife food plots in cooperation with the Delaware County Pheasants Forever Chapter.

Mowed hiking trails are maintained making this area attractive as a “walk-in” wildlife area.
