Earth Day - Spring Wildflower Hike at Skillet Creek Indian Mounds

Event Summary

The Hamilton and Webster County Conservation Boards will be cosponsoring a hike at the Skillet Creek Indian Mounds. Come and look for the spring wild flowers as we walk the hiking trail to the top of the hill and enjoy the spring time sights. Enjoy walking on the trails as we walk the moderately-difficult hiking path. Skillet Creek has a rich cultural history that we will discuss.

Meet us at Skillet Creek Indian Mounds Area parking lot at 6:00 pm. To reach the area, follow Highway 175 about 4 miles west of Stratford. Just after crossing the bridge over the Des Moines River, turn north onto River Road. Turn onto Skillet Creek Road (left at Y intersection). Just beyond the first curve will be the parking lot where we will meet.

Dress appropriately for the night hike. This program is for all ages of people who enjoy hikes and are up to the challenge. If you have any questions feel free to contact John Laird the Hamilton County Conservation  Board Naturalist at 515-832-9570 or email him at hccblaird@wmtel.net

Skillet Creek is managed by the Webster County Conservation Board.
