Jackson County Recreation Trail
The Jackson County Recreation Trail is 6.6 miles in length (includes Copper Creek Trail section). This crushed limestone path is great for biking, hiking, and cross country skiing! The scenic trail is located along the Maquoketa River in Jackson County and crosses both Deep Creek and Copper Creek. About half of the trail is located on the abandoned Chicago-Milwaukee Railroad line. Scenic overlooks along the trail provide striking views of the river valley and its limestone bluffs. Enjoy a picnic or relax in one of the 4 picnic shelters along the trail. Learn more about the area’s geological history from signs along the trail. Also bring your fishing pole, with access to the streams and river.
