Ten canoes are available for shuttled float trips on the Cedar River in Muscatine County. Trips go from Jack Shuger Memorial Park in Moscow to the Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area ( approximately 9 miles), where the Cedar River meanders through floodplain forests and Wiese Slough, a State-owned wildlife management area. It is typically wide and fairly shallow during the summer months. There is no white water and it is a safe and interesting stretch of the river for experienced and novice canoeists.

Shuttle trips may be scheduled Fridays, Saturdays, or Sundays, May through September as river conditions allow.

(Typically we do not do rentals when the Cedar River at Conesville is over 10-feet or under 6-feet. Due to fast, high, swift water, or being so low you drag on sandbars the whole way down.)

The $25 fee includes a canoe, paddles, life jackets, and transportation to the launch point at Jack Shuger Memorial Park, Moscow for your canoeing party (no pets). Canoeists will meet at the Cedar River Boat Ramp at Saulsbury Bridge Recreation Area, and leave their vehicles. A minimum of three canoes must be rented for the shuttled trips.

Reservations are required 3-days in advance.
The canoes are made for 2-people, however a 3rd person (max) could ride in the middle.

To check availability or reserve canoes contact the Conservation Board at (563) 264-5922 or  email us.
