Prairie Gold Wildlife Area
Prairie Gold Wildlife Area was funded by the
local Pheasants Forever Chapter and funds received from the Habitat Stamp
Program. This large 231-acre area has many ecosystems such as prairie,
wetlands, and a river oxbow which allow waterfowl, pheasants, turkey, deer,
furbearers, and non-game species to thrive.
In addition to providing good wildlife habitat, this area will retain
water in the wetlands, assisting with flood control by slowing runoff,
improving water quality, and reducing soil erosion.
