Chichaqua Bottoms 03-Paddle-In NO LONGER ACTIVE

Water trail campsites are reservable only by paddlers. Registered youth groups may also use the sites after obtaining a Special Use Permit. Contact park personnel at 515/967-2596 to obtain a Special Use Permit.  Water trail campsites at Chichaqua Bottoms Greenbelt are non-electric, tent-only sites. Several large trees provide shade for this grassy, level area adjacent to the South Skunk River.

 

Sites may be reserved up to one-year in advance and must be made at least 5 days in advance of the date of reservation. For example, to make a Friday reservation, you must reserve the facility no later than Monday of that week. 

We have a limited refund policy; however, if you need to change your reservation you have one opportunity to reschedule. Details regarding the advance notification requirement, change and cancellation fees can be found in the Facility Contract accepted at time of booking.

Additional campsites, both electric and non-electric, are only available on a first come, first served basis. Visit the Things to Do tab on our website for more information:

Check-In / Out Availability Check-in is after 03:00 PM and check-out is before 02:00 PM.

Fees

Camping rate: $18/per night 

Extra tent
: An additional fee for a camper with tent or a tent with second tent on site is $ 5.00/per night. This fee is payable directly to park staff.


Capacity: maximum number of people allowed to camp at site is 6 people.

Reservations may be made up to ONE YEAR to date in advance.

Summer Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 p.m. (daylight savings time)

Winter Hours: Sunrise to sunset  (standard time)

Upon entering park after hours, vehicle may be stopped by ranger requesting their campsite number and name of the party registered to the site.

 

 April 15 through October 15

·        Reservations are allowed on reservable sites. Many additional sites remain first come first served during this time. 

·        Water and modern restroom/shower facilities are open. These facilities may open earlier and stay open later depending on weather conditions.

Closures

October 16 through April 14

·        Reservations are not available. All sites are first come first served until campgrounds close on November 30 (weather dependent).

December 1 through March 31

·       Gravel roads in camp areas are closed to vehicular traffic.

·       Only hike-in tent camping is available at this time. Campers must self-register at the campground kiosk within one hour of setting up camp.

April 1 (weather dependent)

·        All campsites open for first come first served use only.
