Engeldinger Marsh
This 81-acre wildlife area has been described as a "geological and ecological museum" because of its rare prairie pothole and sedge meadow. A year-long survey at Engeldinger counted 314 species of plants, 19 species of mammals, 15 species of reptiles and amphibians, and 82 species of birds.
Location
It is located 5 miles northeast of Bondurant on Highway 65. A small parking area off NE 120th Street offers access for wildlife viewing and hunting in the area.

Many exciting park and trail improvements are happening in
Polk County thanks in part to the Polk County Water and Land Legacy bond
referendum that was supported by voters in November of 2021. This may result in
closed recreation areas due to construction. We encourage the public to
stay involved and updated on these improvements by regularly visiting our
