Explore the ancient healing path of Shinrin Yoku, or Japanese forest bathing, with Dr. Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller, Integrative Medicine physician. This mindful walk will invite you to use your senses to enhance your well-being. Pre-registration required; deadline is May 18. Minimum age 12. Fee: $15.

 

Presenter Bio: Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller, M.D., FACOG, FABOIM

Suzanne Bartlett Hackenmiller, M.D is an OB-Gyn and integrative medicine physician at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids. She completed Dr. Andrew Weil’s integrative medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona, and continues the study of herbal medicine with Dr. Tieraona Low Dog.  In 2015, she became the first medical doctor in Iowa to be fellowship trained and board certified in integrative medicine. 

She is the author of an award-winning children’s book called “A Friend Like John, Understanding Autism,” and speaks regularly to groups on the subject of autism, cancer, integrative medicine, and nature therapy. Her passions include outdoor adventure and leading workshops on improving wellness through the natural means of nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, mind-body practices, and nature therapy. 

Dr. Bartlett Hackenmiller has been quoted in Prevention Magazine (October 2016) and the American Airlines American Way Magazine (December 2016) on the subject of nature therapy, and is slated to be the subject of a feature article in Prevention Magazine in spring of 2017.
