Conservation Conversations and Practice - Gully Erosion Edition - NOW CANCELLED
Story County Conservation Center, Story County
Saturday, October 13, 2018
Are you a landowner looking for
solutions for minor to moderate erosion control? Or someone who wants to learn
more about erosion's effects on our landscape and help with prevention? Join us
for a conversation about conserving our soils.
The morning will be spent in conversation with experts from Prairie Rivers of Iowa, Story County Conservation, Iowa Conservation Corps, and ISU Extension. After learning strategies to conserve our soils, we'll put that newly-gained knowledge into practice in the afternoon by building a log-type erosion control structure in McFarland Park. This type of structure can easily be replicated on your own property by using materials you already have.
Lunch will be provided (please provide any dietary restrictions in the comments section during registration).
Please dress appropriately for the weather, wearing clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Please bring gloves, a full water bottle, and notebook. Sunblock and bug spray may also be desired.
This program is intended for adults only.
Registration with $15 fee per person is required by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3, 2018.
