Halloween Hikes - Galapagos Islands

Event Summary

The Halloween Hikes are going to look a little different this year, but they WILL be taking place with the theme of the GALAPAGOS ISLANDS!!! You will meet Charles Darwin, frigate birds and many other characters as you walk the ½ mile paved path at Pioneer Ridge Nature Area.   

We are going to offer both an in-person option and virtual options so all can “attend” safely. There will be one night of hikes only on October 9 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Hikes will take place every 15 minutes with no more than 10 participants (or one family group) per hike time. Reservations and masks will be required for all participants.  

Reservations begin September 25 at 8:00 AM. You can register by e-mailing PioneerRidgeHike@hotmail.com or calling 641-682-3091. Space is limited so register early. No walk-ins will be accepted. Participants must wear a mask to attend, and all are asked to show up no more than 5 minutes before your scheduled hike time to keep crowding to a minimum. Due to the on-going pandemic, there will be no indoor activities, and the cost of the event is a free will donation.  

After the hikes, videos of all the characters skits will be available via a story walk around the path at Pioneer Ridge Nature Area and online for those unable to join us in person.
