County conservation in Iowa has been the leader in outdoor & environmental education since the creation of the CCB system in the 1950s. Today, most of Iowa's 99 county conservation boards provide natural and cultural interpretive programming, and 59 counties have education/interpretive centers with full-time staff dedicated to developing quality environmental educational programming.
