Lake Icaria
Lake Icaria is conveniently located in southwest Iowa 90 miles southwest of Des Moines, 90 miles southeast of Omaha/Council Bluffs, and 90 miles north of St Joseph, making it an ideal weekend trip. Adams County Conservation maintains Lake Icaria Recreation Area which includes Timber Ridge Campground, Lake View Campground, six full-service Cabins (handicapped accessible), eight sleeper cabins, and two Cottages.
Lake Icaria showcases two tranquil campgrounds open year-round: Lake View and Timber Ridge. With 153 total graveled campsites including, 63 full-service, 23 water/electric, 43 electric, and 24 tent sites there is something for everyone. Each site features a fire pit and picnic table for your use. Playgrounds in each campground. Modern Bathroom/Shower houses, along with handicap accessibility. At the beginning of each campground, there is an RV Dump Station and Water Hydrants for your use. Check-out for campgrounds is before 3 pm. Timber Ridge Campground - a serene and shaded setting surrounded by mature trees. With 39 Full-Service Sites, 23 Electric/Water Sites, and 4 tent sites, this campground can be reserved online up to a year in advance for dates from May through September. Sites not reserved are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are limited to three-day occupation. Walking trails will take you on scenic hikes through the timber to the dam, ponds, water’s edge, and the beach and picnic area.
Lake View Campground - surrounded by the lake on three sides, with most sites having a view of the lake. The campground includes 24 Full-Service Sites, 43 Electric Sites, and 20 tent sites. This is a first-come, first-serve campground and campsites #25 - #40 can be reserved online up to a year in advance for dates from May through September. Sites not reserved are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and are limited to three-day occupation. This area has mature trees that provide lots of shading as well as open sunny sites.
Cabins – Relax in one of our 14 rustic cabins at the lake. Two styles of cabins are featured: Full-Service and Sleeper. All will enjoy the outdoors while using the stand-up grill, open fire pit, and picnic table provided at each cabin. Air conditioning and heater units in all cabins, as well as Refrigerator, Microwave, kitchen table with benches, and loveseat. Full-service cabins also have a small kitchenette and bathroom attached, are open year-round, and are handicap-accessible. Cabins can be reserved 2 years in advance.
Cottages – The tranquil lakeside cottages at Lake Icaria have ample room for 10 people. Your family will enjoy the amenities of a fully stocked kitchen, satellite tv, and all bedroom and bathroom linens provided. Cottages are handicap-accessible. View the stunning Iowa sunsets on our covered deck while fixing your favorite meal on the large stand-up grill or enjoy roasting marshmallows around the fire pit. Private docks are provided. Cottages can be reserved 2 years in advance.
Reservations can be made throughout the year. No Refunds are given under any circumstance. Per ACCB cancellation policy you may change a reservation, only if you contact the office 7 days before the reservation (limited to two times). Closures
Lake Icaria is open year round. Restrooms and fish cleaning stations are winterized and closed down as well as water turned off mid October to mid April.
