North Cedar Park
North Cedar Park is located in the northwest part of Bremer County east of Plainfield. Land for the park was donated in 1973 by the Iowa State Highway Commission - ISHC (23.5 acres) and by Merle and Jeanette Gruben (26 acres). The next year it more than doubled in size when a 63.5 acre tract was purchased from Walter and Hazel Gritzner. In 1977, the ISHC donated another small parcel (3.8 acres) of land. North Cedar reached its current 130 acres in 1984 with a purchase from Clarence and Nancy Robinson.
The campground offers over 40 electrical sites as well as a dump station. Camping is on a first come - first serve basis. The park has a well for drinking water, flush toilets, pit latrine and showers. A recycling shed is available to reduce items that go to the landfill.
The park offers area citizens and visitors a variety of recreational opportunities. There are over 2 miles of trails that wind throughout the park. Hikers, cross country skiers and nature lovers can enjoy the beauty of Iowa. Please do not remove any plant life.
A picnic and playground area are available for day-use recreation. A sand volleyball court and horseshoe pit are also available. A shelter with electricity is accessible on a first come - first serve basis unless reserved.
A boat ramp in the park allows canoeists and fishing enthusiasts access to the Cedar River. Abundant wildlife populations provide rewarding visits for hunters, fishers and wildlife watchers.
North Cedar Wildlife Area (98 acres) joins North Cedar Park on the west side. The area includes timber and old river oxbows. It is open to hunting, fishing, hiking and other outdoor activities. Access to this area is gained by following the mowed lane west from the entrance gate.
Plainfield Parkway is a hiking trail established in 1997 and 1998 constructed by Plainfield community members and the BCCB staff. The trail connects the city of Plainfield to North Cedar Park. The trail was later enhanced in 1998 when Jamie Borglum constructed an interpretive trail along a portion of it for his Eagle Scout Project. There is a brochure available on the interpretive trail by

The park gate is open from May 1st to October 31st. The park is closed to vehicle traffic after October 31st, however, access to the park is available by walking.

Closures
North Cedar Park closes daily at 11:00 p.m. unless you are a paying camper.
North Cedar Park is closed from November 1st to April 30th.
